Producer Profile
Situated in Pinhão, on the right bank of the river Douro, its length is almost entirely bathed by the splendour of the water course. With a rare natural beauty and exceptional location, it is south-facing at an altitude of around 250 metres, key factors in obtaining the perfect maturation of the grapes.
The Quinta has 60 hectares of vineyards, where we can find the most noble grape varieties in the Douro region, mainly Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Sousão, Tinto Cão, Tinta Barroca, among others in lower amounts but equally important, the result of a restructuring plan carried out at the Quinta. However, the Quinta still preserves a few vineyard plots, known as “Vinhas Velhas” (“Old Grapes”) which are over 100 years old.
All the grapes in this Quinta have been classified as “A” since 1932, by the, at the time regulatory entity, Casa do Douro, given their quality potential.
The vineyards from Quinta da Vista Alegre are part of the beautiful scenery of the Douro River, whose images illustrate specialized publications glorifying the splendour of the Douro River with its valley sides carpeted with serried ranks of grapes. We think the origin of the name of the Quinta (delightful view) is directly related with the superb and enchanting view from all points.
Our foremost and most recognized commercial brands of Port Wine and DOC Douro Wines bears the name of the Quinta and the company: VISTA ALEGRE PORT and VALLEGRE DOC DOURO.

2016: ROBERT PARKER CLASSIFICATION (2022):
“…This is a step up over the Valle Longo Reserva. It´s not quite as smooth, but it´s richer in mouthfeel, more expressive and better structure d. While that is at peak and more likely to go down than up in the future , this might still improve a little. The rest is similar. That is, it is rather elegant and a little understated, beautifully balanced and fresh. This does nicely. It should hold throughout most of the decade.”
